Here are some signs that your child may have low self-esteem:

  • they have few friends
  • be easily frustrated or discouraged
  • be unwilling to try new things
  • have trouble following rules or behaving well
  • be withdrawn or depressed, or frequently say “I can’t”
  • Please review prior posts on how to develop a more positive self-esteem.

Self-esteem describes how people feel about themselves, both inside and out. People with good self-esteem generally have a positive outlook, accept who they are and feel confident. Having good self-esteem does not mean that a person is conceited or self-centered. It means that they appreciate their own self-worth and importance and take responsibility for their own actions, while showing respect and caring.
